Snow Removal = Exciting Event in Homer, AK

We've had quite a winter here in Homer. They say this much snow isn't normal. That's too bad, because I rather enjoy it. The only downfall (in my book) is the giant sized snow berm in the middle of Pioneer Avenue. The plow trucks come early in the morn, go up one side and down the other, and leave a snow berm so large that you could lose a small person forever! You certainly wouldn't want to turn across the road, so you have to go out of your way, flip a u-turn, and come back down the other side of the street to get to your final destination. This in mind, I'm always delighted when the snow blower comes by. I can watch out my office window as he blows the unwanted snow into the back of a dump truck, and the dump truck driver hauls it away to a place where it won't be so despised. Quite an effective system of snow removal. Just for fun, I posted a picture of the much appreciated snow blower. The pile of snow looks pretty measly compared to what it was at 8am. It's been 38 degrees and raining all day, so quite a bit has melted off.

Now, aren't you glad you have more to do than write about snow plowing in Homer?! :)

Hi Joanie,
Glad you wrote, always check to see what's new. And thanks for putting Chandra and Steph's blog sites on too, I go to yours and get all three! When will the new church be up and running, this Sunday? Miss ALL of you guys, but glad you are saving towards a house. That is a good thing. Love you, keep the photos and writing coming. Makes me feel closer to all of you up there. Pretty soon it will be Sherry too, sob, sob. Grandma and I will have to fly up one of these times, not in winter however. If we can help it.
Love you, Aunt Sharon (and Uncle Jack)
